Just a quick update tonight . . .
Due to crazy schedule at work, I only got to ride twice this week - Memorial Day and today. That's the bad news. The good news is that each day was a nice LONG ride to train for GYGIG next weekend. I'll try to have detailed posts for each of these two great rides, but in the meantime you can check out my post from earlier this week for more about the Memorial Day ride. In the meantime, check out the route maps and other details under "Recent Rides" in the right hand column.
BIG props to my new friends Bob and his son Chris who hosted me today for a GYGIG training ride in the Litchfield Hills. I'll be riding with them in the charity ride next weekend and they got some much needed climbing into my legs. One of the MANY highlights of the ride (other than the generally spectacular scenery, including a lap around the 2nd largest natural lake in the state) was when Bob got a flat tire. A car pulled up with a bike on top - one of Bob's buddies (I'm sorry I forgot his name). He mentioned in passing that he was on the internet and found a blog by "Mr. Suitcase" and had Bob seen it since it mentioned the GYGIG ride. Talk about a small world! Very cool.
You can check out the map of our route plus the CRAZY (esp. for this coastal dweller) hill profile in the link under "Recent Rides" on the right.
Finally, I'm just about done with a post on last weekend's Hartford Crit. Unfortunately, for some unexplained reason, the Garmin DID NOT WORK again for most of the race. When we were stopped to clear emergency vehicles from a bad crash, I noticed it was off (yes, I'm sure I turned it on). And we restarted with only 3 laps to go. So all I have is those 3 laps - but at least I have those. Check it out under "Races" in the righthand column.
Oh - and I've updated my mileage totals as of tonight too (left hand column).
Hope to post again before GYGIG starts bright and early Friday morning . . .
Have a great week!!
Jeff and I biked some hills yesterday too! Glad you had a fun ride getting ready for GYGIG. That's really neat about someone finding your website and then bumping into you :)

Glad you enjoyed the area, ride and scenery. Carmel Hill....bet you wished for a compact crank! Actually it's just a hill around our parts.
Good luck next weekend, enjoy, have fun and relax....you'll do great....just being involved you've already been a success.
